Ritsurin Park, a Daimyo's garden, was designed as the 8th special beauty spot in Japan in March 1953. It is the largest, representative landscape garden designed for strolling through in the country.
Under the Culture Properties Act, at present, a total of 23 gardens have been classified as special beauty spots. Of these, 6 are Daimyo gardens and 13 are temple gardens.
