Niijima 04

This shot is one of my favorites from Niijima. The Beach you see below is where the Japanese leg of the World Surfing Tour is held.
While surfing this rare uncrowded beach I met some of the Japanese Pro Surfers and manage to get some good waves.
The waves here a hollow and you can manage to get really nice tube rides. From the beach the waves look quite small but after paddling out and waiting for the sets the faces on this day were about 3m.

I saw one of the Japanese Pro's wack his face in the tube which left him with a bloody face and a big smile.

I'm definitely not a surfer (never quite worked out the appeal!) but this picture makes me hunger to go travel and see some Japanese beaches. Quite a contrast to the memories I have of Tokyo and Narita.
I do like the lines and colours in this photo.

Some of the beaches are really beautiful here Bronnie. I work in Tokyo so it's good to get out of the city on my day off and take in the natural surrounds. Funny thing with this beach is it is classified as a part of Tokyo, even though it's a 8 hour ferry ride from the city.

This shot 'is' surfing. Reminds me of the carpark overlooking Bells Beach along the surf coast. Boy does that water look inviting, nice one mate!

Sorry for the delay in my reply mate.
1. I open a New Image which should be larger than the photo image.
2. Select all the photo image.
3. Click and drag the image then drop it on the New Image
4. Crop the New image around the photo to desired look.
5. Finally flatten the image and save.
Pretty simple work but helps present the image.

This Niijima series has been fantastic. You certainly get about Daz. Niijima 2 I enjoyed especially. Those dark clouds and blue sea were wonderful.

I try to get about. Niijima 2 looks so much better on my PC then on AM3 but I'm glad you liked it mate.

Hi. Nice pics. I'm thinking of heading down there next month. Do you know if they rent surfboards on the island? Or do i have to bring my own? Cheers.

@Brian: Thanks Mate.
I believe there is a surfboard rental place there mate but to play it safe I would take your own board or borrow one before you go, you don't want to be on the Island looking at the amazing waves and finding out that all the surfboards have been rented.
