I took this photo in Okinawa a couple of years back with my old camera so be gentle on the quality. It was a really beautiful location and I can't wait to go back again with my new camera. I'm looking forward to reading what you think and finally getting around to seeing all your shots I've missed over the last few days. Cheers Daz

@Bob: It was paradise mate. Can't wait to go back
I like this composition a lot ... very poetic and romantic.

@badala: Thanks mate. Was a pretty cool spot.
yep, i love the composition and colours here daz. i also like that caught someone in the background looking out to sea, as though they're lost in thought. nice capture.

@Stu: Thanks Stu. Yeah the guy does look like he is lost in thought. I kept him in the image as he also he also looks like he's in the same sitting position as the mermaid.
So, this is the old cam Darren! It's wonderful! Those colors at the horizon. The composition and the colors are amazing.

@Rita: Yeah the old one, a standard digital digital still.
Very good perspective and composition! I love the color and whole image. An absolutely great job!

@Craiger: Thanks mate. Glad you like it so much.
Really really like this composition. I'm gonna run with the romantic theme too...folorn lovers...in different places...looking in different directions...she's 'blue'...ooooh...metaphor!

@Untitled: Thanks mate. It may have a romantic theme going here.
Excellent shot! Good use of flash (I assume it was used)! Cheers!
10 Jan 2007 10:56am
@Daniel: Yeah mate I needed to use the flash to show the details in the mermaid was shootind towards the sunset and it was only a standard digital not an dSLR also not tripod at that time.
Interesting composition. I can see theres even a guy at the back :)
Anyway, I think that the lighting on the foreground is a tad too strong for me. Maybe side lighting would have been better.

@Ryan Yam: Thanks mate. Maybe side lighting would have been better but I was really limited to the standard flash on the camera.
Great shot Darren, it almost looks like a collage of images, the sky, the middle ground, and the foregorund subject all seem too good to be true! Great find.

@Duncan Galbraith: Thanks Duncan. You have a really keen eye. I actually split the image into 3 images and played with the levels a little.
whats great is the person in the distant background enjoy her own "mermaid" moment.

@Zach Siebert: The extra person is a nice touch I felt.
i like the strong colours and especially the different greens of the mermaid and the foliage
10 Jan 2007 3:54pm
@jc: Thanks JC The greens do stand out don't they.
Looks like the perfect place to take some pictures and have a few drinks and forget about life for a while.

@Angry Buddha: It was the perfect place mate. I can remember having quite a few drinks there.
She looks like a tropical mermaid.. Fine colors!
10 Jan 2007 5:04pm
@Still: Yeah mate. She is a tropical mermaid.
Great composition. and fantastic colors. Love the greens of the mermaid.

@Lynne: Thanks Lynne. The greens were a big hit.
Very cool! Now you have to go into Photoshop, and change her colours to make her real!

@Damon Schreiber: Thanks mate. I gave it a go after I read your comment but my result wasn't the best. I need more practice to get something worth posting. Maybe someday in the future mate.
Alrighty then, I had a go at it for grins: here :)

@Damon Schreiber: Cool mate. Almost similar to what I came up with, but I chose to make her a blond. Wish I kept it now.
